The Intelli IMT-500 clip on chromatic tuner is designed to tune electric and acoustic guitars, basses, violins, banjos, mandolins and more without interference from ambient room noise, all without the use of wires, microphones or pickups. Tuning in noisy environments is a easy because the unique, flexible clamp actually "feels" the instrument's vibrational energy instead of relying on sound. And, the swivel allows a perfect view of the back lit display. The best part is that this amazing quality tuner costs a fraction of what other similar tuners cost.

5What a GEM!  Jan 06, 2009
This is my favorite tuning device. Great display makes reading the screen easy. I really like the "squeeze" clip design as opposed to the "slide open" clamp on other tuners. I have never been disappointed with the results of this tuner and it is compact and folds up small enough to fit in any nook or cranny of an instrument case or instrument bag. I've had this tuner for nearly a year and have not had to replace the battery, can't help but like that! It is a great relief knowing I can use this tuner in any noisy room or gathering and I can rely on getting a perfect tune without ever needing to find a quiet place to tune my instrument.

5Great little tool  Nov 01, 2008
Bought this for my mandolin and it works great. The display is bright and easy to see. The clip is small enough and flexible enough you can leave it clipped on without getting in the way. Can't imagine doing without it now.

The only 'off' thing a bout this product, it uses a odd sized, flat, round battery that you'll have to buy specifically as a replacement. It us very unlikely you'll have one of these laying around the house in a pinch.

5Great tuner  Oct 24, 2008
For those of you who complain about the low notes not registering, if you play the 12th fret harmonics you won't have a problem.

55 Stars Intelli, Less for distributor  Oct 17, 2008
I'm taking my KORG CA-30, which has no backlight, slow reset time, and a ridiculous "stand" feature - put a business card in the slot in the back, and try to find a level surface for it to stand upon - and putting it in my sock drawer with my decades old guitar pitch pipe. Also going in there is my Intellitouch tuner, which drives me nuts with the arrows and does not fit securely on my fiddle.
For my fiddle, mandolin and guitar, I'll use my just received Intelli IMT-500 which is very compact (great for fiddle/mando cases), which has an outstanding backlight, superb accuracy and quick resetting.

The Intelli, in its own manufacturers box (which has no shock-absorbing material),was placed in a larger shipping box by the distributor/seller "The Instrument Store", without any shock-absorbing material, leaving the Intelli, a very sensitive electronic metering device,
subject to vibration and shock during the long trip down the east coast.
It would be good for Amazon to teach sellers the basics of proper packing for shipping. It's not rocket science.

3Good points outnumber the bad points for tuning only  Aug 22, 2008
I had a hard time with the older Intellitouch tunders as can be read, although I think they had a quality control problem with them because people I esteem raved about them, while I and others had bad results. This tuner is pretty much what it is cracked up to be. After spending a week taking lessons and jamming with other people, my trusty Korg tuner was less than useful tuning while other folks were tuning up or playing.
So, I got this clip on.

It is easy tuning the banjo with this tuner. The dial used is much clear than the impossible to understand arrows on the old Intellitouches. Even in my dimming eyes, the backlit feature makes it easy to see where you are at least on my longest banjo.

The one thing that this is not as good as a Korg detachable (do they make an attachable) at least for banjo is that it takes longer and more sustain in a note to register a reading on this tuner. It isn't that good if you are checking for intonation in your playing on the banjo at least unless you play very slow and unbanjo like on the banjo. Quick notes that are part of playing most tunes may not register or be overwhelmed by longer louder notes.

I also use tuners to get the pitch and sometimes figure out notes from recordings. For the above reason as well as it attachable nature, this tuner is useful for this or for voice.

While this may not be good for getting a reading on your intonation while playing--not exactly the main purpose for a tuner--this is excellent for the main purpose, tuning your instrument, or at least all five of my banjos which love this tuner.

I haven't checked this out on the guitar yet.
